Don't buy the Diamond Plan
Even though we Monarch owners are all stuck with this annoying Timeshare, our best bet is to stick together. If we join Diamond it increases our Monarch fees. I read the bankruptcy filing and they are obligated to give us some service forever. Not the best result, but better than paying Diamond fees or loans. If you can use it, use it and stick it out - because going into Diamond would be a big mistake. since these are impossible to sell and walk away from, might as well pay the Monarch fees and make the best of it. At least they give us a couple Diamond locations.

Monarch -- and all timeshares -- how do they get away with it???
I bought an 'every other year' timeshare from Monarch years ago. Paid $4000 in full (which is like $8000 now). Fees back then were about $100 a year. Now like $400. They keep changing the pt structure too, and require a minimum of a week -- which my points don't cover. So basically they've made this such that I can get about 4 days every other year in only their worst locations -- and for this I pay $400 a year -- I could basically stay at a much nicer place for longer for the same money, now that the internet is here. BUT, here's the kicker -- according to them, I can't even GIVE BACK the timeshare -- even though it's paid in full. So basically what they hide from you from the beginning, is that once you sign you have to pay for the rest of your life, no matter what? I don't know how this is legal. Any other contract in the world can be broken, reneged, changed, whatever -- but somehow Timeshares are "magic." Meanwhile, do they call me up and say, hey, you need to use your points or lose them? NO. Do they sell the company to someone else (making them money -- but somehow my valuable timeshare goes DOWN in value)? YES Do fees go up every year, even though the sites are more and more shabby? YES -- but somehow, none of this is breaking their contract to us. It's complete and utter BS. Write your congressman. It's ridiculous that these people can get away with this.

Monarch Grand Vacations - Vacation Ownership Review from Mountain View, California
I bought with Monday a few years ago. When diamond bought them out i wasnt notified. I accidently found out and they wanted $7000 to change over but it was only for the time share not the maintenance fees. So i would have to pay both maintenance fees for both companies. When i said i wouldn't pay the additional Diamond offered me a sample package. As long as i paid it in time and didn't use it for the year they would use that as my payment to change over from Monarch. When the year was up they said i had to pay additional $3500 even with the sample package. AND still pray birth maintenance fees. I declined. Monarch maintenance fees doubles within a year and i couldn't afford it anymore. They have now discharged my debt but i have to include the $20000 as income. And the notice came from Diamond not Monarch. How did that happen?

MGV transition to DRI - FRAUD!
We just went to a transition meeting (03/06/2015) for our MGV property which was nothing more than a strong-arm sales meeting. Now that DRI is the majority owner of the MGV properties, they are pressuring everyone to sell by increasing HOA dues through the roof! There second tactic is to tell owners several things about their property that is "not true" in order to scare you into thinking that these *** are doing you a big favor selling you an overpriced upgrade when they are actually taking your property interests away in the transaction. They are also making "one time offers" where you have to sign off or lose the benefit of a price break for selling your interest in MGV. Both tactics are unfair and illegal because they are setting you up to sell your real estate interest using false information (lies) and forcing you out of the property by raising HOA fees. When I called "***" and wanted to make of copy of their "offer" for my attorney to look at, I was assaulted by the sales supervisor who snatched the papers out of my hands - then he actually ran away. What a ***. I recorded the whole conversation... In a few days, I'll edit it down to some of the highlights and post it on my web site. I'll be visiting one of my attorneys next week to see if he would be willing to start a Class Action Law Suit for the MGV owners that are being forced and threatened into DRI. If you are interested and want to join this effort, you can contact my Detective Agency, DGA Detectives in Simi Valley Ca. (google me for contact info)

Maintenance fees
I would like to say that I enjoy using the time share, but the fees that we pay aye rediculous. I pay almost 14 hundred dollars for one week every two years. These resorts book outsiders, and when I try to make a reservation, it is all booked up for sometimes two months in advance. These people should pay the share holders the money to stay their. I would like to give back my timeshare and get rid of these maintenance fees.

ALERT ATTENTION URGENT ~ JOIN "CLASS ACTION" LAWSUIT vs. DIAMOND RESORTS ~ Friday, October 30, 2015
~~~ ALERT ATTENTION URGENT ~~~ JOIN "CLASS ACTION" LAWSUIT vs. DIAMOND RESORTS Friday, October 30, 2015 Thus far we have 2 clients that want to group together in a formal Class Action Lawsuit against Diamond Resorts Intl. for flagrantly abusive Timeshare Fraud, Felonies, Racketeering and a multitude of other Legal Charges for abusive business practices. In my particular case (Ruben Pena), I have 58 Legal charges against them (CA State violations, NV State violations & Federal violations). Nina Varkel is also "in" with her Legal Complaint & Charges against Diamond Resorts. The Law Firm that wants to move forward with a major Class Action Lawsuit against Diamond Resorts is "US Consumer Attorneys" of San Diego, CA [www.USconsumerAttorneys.com]. To do so, they need a minimum of '10 Clients' that are willing to join the Class Action Lawsuit vs. Diamond Resorts Intl. Thus we need a minimum of 8 more Timeshare Clients that have been victimized by Diamond Resorts Intl. to join this Class Action Lawsuit. That more Clients that join the Lawsuit, the higher the probability of reaching a Large compensation for Compensatory & Punitive Damages, and the cheaper it will be for each Client to Join the Lawsuit. ONLY SERIOUS CLIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN VICTIMIZED BY DIAMOND RESORTS SHOULD JOIN!!! IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT JOINING THIS "CLASS-ACTION" SUIT, THEN PLEASE DO NOT CALL nor JOIN!!! The objective of this Lawsuit against Diamond Resorts Intl. is four-fold: a) get out from under the timeshare contract once and for all b) fix your credit score with the 3 Credit Bureaus c) get reimbursed for the Equity invested into the Timeshare d) get payment for Compensatory Damages as well as for Punitive Damages incurred as a result of the flagrantly abusive Timeshare Fraud, Felonies, Racketeering and the multitude of other Legal Charges for abusive business practices by Diamond Resorts Intl. against their Timeshare Customers. The contact name of the attorney for this Class Action at USconsumerAttorneys.com is Jason Daniel Hughes @ CELL: 1.619.715.1366. ONLY SERIOUS CLIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN VICTIMIZED BY DIAMOND RESORTS SHOULD CALL!!! IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT JOINING THIS "CLASS-ACTION" SUIT, THEN PLEASE DO NOT CALL!!! In addition, a major U.S.A. Newspaper is about to publish (within the next few weeks of today Oct 30, 2015) a major investigative/documentary article that is going to expose the abuses of the entire Timeshare Industry in the United States, including and especially the biggest rat in the sewer Diamond Resorts Intl., which will include references to Clients that have been swindled in the process by Diamond et al., as well as how to get 'Legally' once and for all out of the Timeshare by contracting one of many Law Firm that will assist in thye process. The Law Firm for this particular Class Action Lawsuit is "US Consumer Attorneys" of San Diego, CA USconsumerAttorneys.com. THANK YOU very much for your time and attention. Look forward to hearing from interested Timeshare Clients soon. ~ Friday, October 30, 2015 Respectfully Yours, Ruben Pena ruben.pena.2000@***.com C: 1.650.429.8505 Nina Varkel Nvarkel@***.com T: 1.949.633.3628 Jason Daniel Hughes USconsumerAttorneys.com CELL: 1.619.715.1366
Monarch Grand vacations
I wanted to give my time share back to the company. Because I do NOT want another person to go through the horrible experience I have with my time share. They just told me that even though my timeshare has been paid in full for over 10 years with Monarch, I can't simply walk away from the timeshare maintenance dues.WHAT!? What do you mean I have to pay these forever?! On top of that, I haven't used it for over 6 years and think I have only used it twice - both time of which were in *** places. I could get a better room at Motel 6. Diamond Resorts now own manarch grand. But don't buy Diamon resort time share. They are all the same. They are all Crooks.. Brian.
Unfair treatment to Monarch Members
My husband and I purchased a Pacific Monarch Timeshare in 2008 from Palm Springs Palm Canyon Resort. We were very reluctant even at that time of making the investment. Since that time getting a reservation hasnโt been easy especially in the summer months and the upkeep hasnโt improved but the maintenance fees are constantly increasing. The Laguna location is the most difficult to book but is the worst out of them all, and their excuse is that itโs the oldest of all the locations and the most used, well thatโs not out problem and itโs also not a valid reason. We were approached by Diamond (for a large amount of money) to come over to their side for better and added Resorts more added but not better. We have no intensions of buying into Diamond resorts, but they keep trying to convince us strongly to join Diamond resorts. As a matter of face, every time we make a reservation prior to the arrival we will receive a phone call inviting us to sit through one of those long strong arm presentations. First of all, we donโt want to incur any more cost with a time share because we also like travelling to other places. Also, as stated above, itโs a hugh hassle making a reservation and weโre not very happy with the upkeep. We were told by Diamond eventually Monarchs nine Resorts inventory would go away due to Monarch being now owned by Diamond and Monarch members coming over to Diamond. Diamond resorts should have grandfathered the members of Monarch over to Diamond for no charge, as members we should have been told what was happening and should have been given the option to opt out or buy up. We would have opted out to sell. Diamond is acquiring all of these resorts but very little if any improvements are made and they charge you prime prices and high maintenance fee's, what a rip off. If you try to get rid of your timeshare it is almost impossible. Monarch or Diamond won't even take it back, so you are stuck with increasing fee's and mediocre Resorts. Bad investment
Monarch Grand Vacations Vacation Ownership Review
The time share business is a sham. Once you get "hooked" the maintenance fees make it unaffordable with very limited choices to vacation. And,,, it's VERY HARD to sell. Can't even give it away !!
Done with timeshares.
When diamond took over and my husband and I went to a owners update in 2013 we were up hauled at the tactics used by the sales people. First we were told how monarch was the worst timeshare ever and how lucky we were to have a opportunity to buy with diamond. We refused after having to talk to three different people to make sure their wasn't anyone to talk us in to buying. Well I guess I didn't learn my lesson, when we stayed at the Cancun resort in Vegas they make us check in at the VIP desk so they can get you to go to the "Owner Update" I told the girl I would not go if they were going to try and sale us something. She said no it's just a update for the owners you only have to stay 55 minutes. Well 3 1/2 hours later they were again try to get us to buy Diamond and telling us how our resort is worthless and it had a zero value after paying 14,500 in 1999. I would also like to be in a lawsuit as well my e-mail is cnunez613@***.com.
Monarch Upgrade to Diamond Presentation
I attended a sales presentation in April at Palm Canyon resorts with the same story and strong arm tactics to try and get me to upgrade to Diamond Resorts. I did not buy into Diamond Resorts, and filed a complaint with the California Department of Real Estate to investigate them. I have indicated in my complaint that there are many people that have been strong armed into upgrading or else. I was told today that my complaint stands on its own, each person will have to file their individual complaint.Please take the time to file your complaint, otherwise this will go nowhere. They did contact Palm Canyon Resort regarding my experience, and they said my experience was unfortunate, and blamed it on the sales rep I had, this is not how they sell!! Here is the contact information - Bureau of Real Estate, CA Department of Consumer Affairs, 320 W. 4th Street, Suite 350, Los Angeles, CA 90013. An online form can also be filed through the ca.gov website.
Monarch Grand Vacations - Monarch Grand Vacation Ownership Review from Los Angeles, California
My wife and I just attended our second Diamond transition presentation. They had flagged our prior presentation because we had not signed off on accepting their price freeze. Now they talked us into buying $15,000 pts for $3k to continue the price freeze for 18 months, which would give us an additional 2500 pts or so to increase our total points to their minimum of over 10,000 for an additional amount of close to $12,000. I'm conflicted because I don't want to have to pay $20,000 later for same thing. But I also dont want to pay anymore into a deeded timeshare we thought we would havw forever, as well as have our maintenance fees double! I just purchased this yesterday and am thinking of cancelling. I agree that we should all have been grandfathered in. Doesn't seem fair. I'm thinking of seeking legal advice as well. Suggestions?
What Diamond locations can you go to? I can only go to MGV locations.
I agree
I was in the same boat, but I didn't have nearly as many points. Finally "Jessica Levine" [Jessica (dot) Levine (at) diamondresorts (dot) com] said she's take them.
Originally there was a ~$300 fee to transfer them back, but there were mistakes and delays so they waived the fee. "Swahili Brooks" [Swahili (dot) Brooks (at) diamondresorts (dot) com] was the nicest of all, as he seemed sympathetic that I wanted to get rid of these silly points. Honestly, getting rid of these timeshares is harder than declaring bankruptcy.
I even tried to consult a real estate attorney, and they didn't want anything to do with it. Good Luck!
